Dates: March 29, April 5, 19, 26 Time: Fridays 6:30p to 9:00p Location: Trilogy Yoga, Chill Studio (1152 Kokohead Ave #203, Honolulu, HI 96816). Investment: $120 for all 4 weeks | $40 for a single week (limited spots available) As yoga teachers, we rarely get constructive feedback. Yet, it’s SOOO necessary. Maybe because no one wants to hurt our feelings. Or because we don’t have the right environment to receive constructive criticism. Regardless of the reason, I think it’s vital that we make time to practice our teaching skills and to receive feedback. Otherwise, how else can we improve? Join me in this 4-week series to practice giving different hands-on adjustments on different bodies. As teachers, we aim to use our voice, hands, and body language to support our students in exploring their own practice. During our time together, you will learn to communicate more effectively with your hands in the following areas: Week 1: Sun Salutations and standing postures Week 2: Twisting, folding, and seated postures Week 3: Back bends and inverted postures Week 4: Savasana and supine postures
In her 28 years of teaching, Cathy Louise Broda has become known for an intuitive touch that can transform your yoga practice. Teachers and students are invited to learn more about her hands-on work, and experience for themselves how to give and receive safe and effective adjustments. Cathy Louise teaches how to observe, listen and feel what each student needs. This sensory information then informs your hands-on work – promoting alignment, enhancing an asana, and addressing specific issues such as stiffness and hyper-mobility. She will also explain how verbal instructions and hands-on adjustments complement each other, and how to work with different types of students. The adjustments taught are useful for practitioners and teachers of any style of yoga. The workshop covers: The right touch – An introduction to adjustments Dancing with the sun – Suryanamaskara A & B Building the foundation – The standing poses Bending, binding, twisting – The seated asanas Closing the practice – Back-bending and inversions Relaxation – Setting up for Savasana
In our daily lives, we rarely experience true rest—the kind of rest that enables our bodies to restore and repair as they are meant to. Approximately 70 million people in the U.S. suffer from some form of sleep disorder, which means that even as we sleep, we are not finding the balance our bodies need to achieve homeostasis. As we normalize stress, fatigue, and imbalance, we experience different levels of illness. Yoga nidra or “yogic sleep,” a sleep-based meditation using breath, relaxation, and visualization, offers healing and true balance. Its effects address physical, mental, and spiritual dis-ease, and it has been used successfully to treat PTSD, addiction, and ADHD. As a yogic practice, it allows us to release deeply embedded and unconscious patterns and become more fully who we are. This training is open to all students regardless of skill level or practice. You’ll experience firsthand the effect of yoga nidra and learn its foundations as well as how to conducts sessions for individuals and groups. AG Restorative Yoga AntiGravity® Yoga Restorative is the gentle, healing side of Christopher Harrison’s AntiGravity® Yoga. This powerful method focuses the mind through powerful visualizations as it floats the body through a series of gentle gyro-kinetic motions, deeply opening the entire spine, hips, and connective tissues of the body. This technique features full body inversions, alongside various forms of flowing spinal traction. It offers accessibility to students with physical limitations, but is loved by all as a portal into deeper spinal flexibility, and mind/body connection. Taught in a sequential flow to music, the class incorporates levitating meditations, zero-compression inversions, supported sun salutations, joint opening poses, and a floating sivasana. Working from different hammock heights allows for the gentle opening of hips and spine.
