A flower bud neither has to be pried apart nor taught to blossom, when it is properly nourished by the elements of nature it will gradually unfold through stages into its own beauty and at its own pace. We too benefit when we align ourselves to nature’s inherent intelligence rather than trying to force ourselves into being or doing something that is inappropriate for our current state or in conflict with our nature. We benefit by recognizing this true nature and nurturing our growth through the practices we engage in (such as yoga), the food we eat, the environment we choose, the relationships we establish, and the balance we create between work and play. Unfortunately, most of us in developed countries are disconnected from nature. We have spent countless years trying to control, ignore, or reverse nature…both on a personal and global scale! Then we wonder why we feel disconnected and out-of-sorts, malcontent, anxious, or ill. Yoga and Ayurveda are ancient sciences that are still applicable in this modern world because they are founded upon universal principles, such as cause and effect, human nature, and nature versus nurture. These sciences proclaim that quality of health is dependent upon quality of attention and consistent self-inquiry; dependent upon harmony between thought, emotion, action, expression, and relationship; and dependent upon respect of universal principles that can be adapted to each individual for the greatest quality of health. In this transformational course we will study and apply the philosophy and practice of yoga and Ayurveda, both in a designated space (i.e., the yoga mat) and in our lifestyles, to establish harmony and vitality in our lives. We will dive deep into the 8 Limbs of Yoga, Yoga Sutras, the koshas, five main categories and poses of Hatha Yoga, self-care rituals of Ayurveda, anatomy, adjustments Read more [...]

Yoga defines that nature’s intelligence as “Prana” or life force. According to the ancient texts, there are 72,000 thousand “nadis” or pranic pathways in which that life force flows inside the human psychic body. Along these subtle pranic channels that intelligence can become interfered by becoming obstructed, under-stimulated or over-stimulated causing disharmony and dis-ease. The understandings and exploration of Prana give one practical tools to embody the unifying intelligence, optimize health and give one a greater connection to being alive. In this module we will: ~ Explore the yogic concepts of universal energy/great life force often referred to as “Mahaprana” or “Pranashakti” ~Outline the human blueprint of “Mahaprana” as it is organized into the 5 (pancha) subpranas or prana vayus: udana, apana, prana, vyana, & samana. ~Learn how to participate and power the 5 prana vayus for reduction of stress and optimal living through the modalities of asana, pranayama and meditation. ~Breakdown the pranic alignment of key asanas or postures for greater access to well-being. ~ Learn key mudras to enhance pranic flow and stimulate individual vayus. ~Explore the 5 “koshas” or sheaths that “pranically” or energetically house the human spirit. ~ Uncover the science behind the 3 bandhas and the supreme seal, MahaBandha. ~ Learn the three main channels or pathways, Ida, Pingala and Sushumna nadis. ~Learn different pranayama practices to balance imbalances and to prepare for meditation. ~Learn how to sequence intelligently for students, clients or ourself.
