Ashtanga Yoga is a “moving meditation” from the very first inhale raising your arms above the head to the final exhale as you lay down for relaxation. By connecting to the breath we bring greater awareness to the body and mind. This four-class course – August 18, 25, September 1 and 8 – with Glen Butcher introduces the basics of the Primary Series, which starts with sun salutations and a sequence of standing poses. From there the practice unfolds step by step with guidance from your teacher. You’ll come to experience the many benefits of Ashtanga, including improved flexibility, strength, stamina and focus. The course is suitable for both absolute beginners to yoga and those with some experience. Teachers may be interested to take the course and discover new ways to introduce this dynamic style of yoga to their students.
