    Hatha Flow at Open Space Chinatown Fridays 12 – 1pm This all levels class teaches the classic yoga postures through a deep awareness of correct alignment and precise actions in the body. Clear instruction is given in breathing technique, warm-up and posture flow. New students will develop body awareness, posture alignment and core strength in basic poses, while experienced students are encouraged to explore advanced variations in familiar postures. Everyone works to his or her own ability and comfort level.     Science has documented that both being in nature and mindfulness practices such as yoga and meditation have several health benefits. Experience some of them yourself by joining us for a gentle hatha yoga class followed by an optional mindfulness-based hike through beautiful Lyon Arboretum. Class typically meets on the third Saturday of each month. Bring a yoga mat and yoga clothes, and wear appropriate footwear for hiking. Optional: mosquito repellant, light rain jacket. Previous yoga experience not necessary.Yoga class starts promptly at 9:30 in the classroom so please come a few minutes early. Yoga class is 9:30-10:30 and is followed by an optional mindful hike, usually to a waterfall. During the hike, we will practice mindful walking in silence and/or practice sensory awareness exercises to deepen our connection to nature.

Listeners can benefit in numerous ways, including stilling the mind and strengthening the nervous system to effectively deal with daily, stressful challenges. We will also utilize medicinal oils, crystal bowls, and other instruments for this sacred journey. This is an EASY and fun event, appropriate for any age or experience level. The gong helps people to achieve a deeper state of meditation than one is normally able to experience using other methods! Perfect for those new to meditation!
